Everyday I Have The Blues (live footage)

A few months ago I was at a gig, and we found ourselves needing some extra time to fill. You know the drill - when in doubt, gotta "call" the blues, am I right? In this video, I've added some annotations to give you a peek into my thought process while playing. We're playing a simple 12-bar blues in Bb, using chords I, IV, and V. Things get interesting when, around 1:17, the guitarist throws in...

How I Learnt 125 Bass Lines In 48 Hours
I got RotSC back in the early 2000's and one thing that always stood out were the basslines. So I naturally think, who is this guy? Stuart Zender: _legend_ !
Worldclass Bassline👍
Wonderful
Although James's style wasn't as intricate as Stevie Wonder's "I was made to love you," another fave of mine has to be Gladys Knight's version of "I heard it through the grapevine" ❤️🎶
If he was born in 1936, im wondering how he could still be at high school in 1954?
Right to the point and simple!
7:59 a lot of misunderstanding of "swing" time. It's really just a sped up waltz, when counted as quarter notes it's 4/4 but when counted in 8ths it's a 6/8. but really it's just ONE-two-three ONE-two-three ONE-two-three. I've even known drummers that didn't get they're not just "swinging" the 4/4 beat... they're literally playing a fast waltz. where the 8th note fills are always in three.
6:02 wow, because it's such a familiar bassline, I never really considered one guy being behind it, or it being unique in anyway. But I guess going from the Root straight to the 6th then walking down to your 5th and 3rd sort of is unique. Not mindblowing, but it worked for that particular song, and it's a bass line you can hear in all sorts of blues cover bands. Thank you for the lesson and making me think different about simple things. (I've played bass on and off for years being primarily a guitarist... but just got a new bass, so I'm sitting down taking in a lot of "bass stuff". It's been fun.)
Great lesson man thanks!
Brother fantastic channel
Name of the song?
Great info. what software are you using to show the notes, frets and tabs?
thank you! I'm using Soundslice :-)
Tony Levin somehow looks in his 40s in 1972 and in his 60s in 2024.
Another great tutorial! What tabulation software is this? I wanna try it!
Thanks for sharing your method!
Hiii! Do you recommend the Headphones dt770 pro in the 32 ohm version for play bass? 😄😄🙏 or better 80 ohm ?😜👋
Can you expalin it on the video, like "this stap one, you do it than this steps 2 thay you have do it. Sinconize step 1 and 2 is this ...., than staps 4," can you make that video
🔥
Just needs that “weeeeooowww” growl
Can you please do Fire by Arthur Brown. It’s an awesome bass song 🎵
Nice, simple explanation for common changes. Really well done. I’d love to see what you’d do with a more stagnant modal vamp, like Miles’ So What. Or a prolonged repeating ii7-V7 vamp like Phish plays (not technically jazz but improvised and almost always interesting).
I think that the once in my life clip wasn't the actual bass take from jemerson
70's funk when you danced and made love with your bass. The crybaby wah hits it, too.
Very cool.
To me call Mom there were two leads in that song Michael Jackson and James Jamerson on bass
Thanks a lot..Good luck!!
Una leyenda.
Best song and vid clip ever
Sounds so good. Along with John's vocals, George's guitar, and Ringo's drumming, this is the timeless bass playing we all remember. Kids today, am I right?
Definitely one of the all time greats! What a player.
Man.. trying so hard! Your lesson is great and you are a great instructor! I simply lack the knowledge and grasp of theory to appreciate what you are able to do for us. I am stupid in 6-string instrumentation, too, but am an okay airline pilot with 11,000hr and no accidents/incidents. Jeez.. Probably due to luck, as I wish I could competently do what you do all day long, but know WHY it works. I just don't get it. Will try something more basic and come back to this when the "ah-ha" hits.. Peace and THANKS!!!
Yep you need a sound man to help you out buddy
It dont sound like a sledgehammer
Is there a octave pedal?
Great stuff brother. That is a beautiful ash elite 4!!!! ( i have the same bass a 2016 model and i love it. I have several jazz basses and it is by far my favorite out of all of them. The ash and maple ages beautifuly too as it darkens up a bit )
6:43 was worth the whole video
King Crimson is a tour de force of musicianship.
Great lesson, but in the future, move your image of the notes/numbers to the top of the screen. When we pause the video, the menu and stuff is in the way and the numbers/notes can't be seen clearly.
Anthony Jackson is a beast
It’s BOOKER not BROOKER!
The Duck Shape in the pdf shows a slide from 7-5 on the A string. I can play either the pdf or the way in the video. I love these shapes 'cuz I love blues with that walking sound and feel. Leave the fireworks to the lead, just get the listeners to do toe tappin' and heads a bobbin'. Excellent video!
The Jackson 5 "Darling Dear." James played the most beautiful bass line.
That's what I wanted to say. Darling Dear
Love this lesson and channel. I see mostly everything in shapes and numbers. As a guitar player for 50 years switching to Bass because of hand problems in the last 5 years these shapes I use a lot. Like to know more.
Grande Tony
Really interesting Jaz, cheers.

Amazing😊
This whole lesson is top notch. Just what I needed to link all the dots. First time I found out I could go just about anywhere on the fretboard with out getting lost
He does not play C# before going to D on Forget me nots.
Get a life
